Last summer, Kate Mergner and I [Dee Archer-Neal] joined a group of BC and WV teachers and read the book, 35 Dumb Things Well-Intended People Say, by Dr. Maura Cullen.
As we discussed the book and the author's message, we [the group] were often struck by the unintended consequences of our seemingly well-intentions. This site will provide a brief outline of the book and its major themes. We've also included the '35 dumb things' as they relate to the core concepts. It is our hope that as we move through the cultural proficiency continuum, we will collect valuable resources and share them with each other as we improve our awareness and work to create an environment that welcomes everyone.
